hello worlds

hello worlds.
i do like doing some kind of prompts in the beginning of the year to get me going with writing. and then i think i will write more and nerp.
i took off January. i took off from working on myself. i, think, there are some things from 2020 that are still here and 2021 did not bring the big bust of freshness that i thought it was going to.
as i was mentioning that February was going to be the start period of things to Judy, she asked if that was my Lent for myself. and it made me stop a bit and yeah, i think so.
i gave up Catholicism so many years ago but parts of it still, not so much cling to me but comes back like a familiar scent. something that is still nice but not wanted all the time.
if i can take all i want and break it down to 40 bites, start on the 8th, then by the 1st of Spring i’ll be there.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 21

Pull a card to forecast what 2021 is going to be like for you.

Ok. My year card is the Chariot so let’s add to the fun.
Pulling from my Everyday Witch tarot deck and the Empty Cup Oracle, I got the 6 of Swords and Shooting Star.
Overall, good things. If I can get control of myself, then good things will come to me.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 20

What’s the greatest lesson you’ve learned from Tarot?

When I got into tarot, it was for divination reasons. It was all about looking outward and upward.
Within the last year or so, I keep seeing people using tarot as a type of therapy and I didn’t get it.
I didn’t get it because that’s what the hell I was doing and didn’t understand that is what the hell I was doing.
Tarot has taught me to look at myself, like really look at myself. My cards don’t lie and don’t sugarcoat it either.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 19

RWS, TdM, or Thoth—which do you prefer and why?

I have only work with Rider-Waite decks and for the time being, that’s what I’m sticking with.
Why? Well, It’s the deck I started with and for the time being, I don’t see a need to try the other decks.
I do have a fondness for oracle decks and have gotten a knack with working with them, alone and with tarot.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 18

Share one trend you would like to see in Tarot publishing.

I got these prompts from Jack of Wands and he did a video of his answers. He wants to see more racial diversity in decks. Yes, I would like to see that too, but here is my answer.
I am non-binary and asexual. I want to see more queerness in my tarot. I want more than just gay/lesbian in my deck. I want to see people where it’s not clear who they are. I want to see Lovers where is more of a friendship than romance.
I want to see me, in the decks.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 17

Which suit in the Minor Arcana is your favorite, and why?

It wasn’t till I got my Nightmare Before Christmas deck that it really hit me which minor was my suit.
When I started with the Everyday Witch it came up all Swords. Ok, it’s a swordsy deck.
Started working with Nightmare and it came up all Needles (deck’s version of Swords). I was like, damn, this deck too?
Yeah, it’s me, I am Swords. My favorite card of the whole deck is the 3 of Swords (I should write about that).
I am the Queen of Swords and the Swords is the suit that comes up the most when I am working with the cards, this past 2sih years (maybe?). Maybe things will change when I get back to my studies but for now, this is it.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 16

How are you working to deepen your Tarot practice right now?

Right now, I am working on getting myself back. I am not in a good headspace to do any deep diving of studying.
When I get there, I want to finish Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom. I want to get out my notebooks that I have started long ago and get back into my deep dive into studying the cards.

Share three Tarot books you’d recommend.

Complete Book of Tarot Spreads by Evelin Burger and Johannes Fiebig. Lots of cool spreads and other info about reading the cards.
Tarot for Your Self, Mary K. Greer. This is more of a workbook than a book book. There is more than one way to skin a cat and this book shows you how you can work with the tarot.
Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom, Rachel Pollack. I have the 1st edition (the 2nd came out recently) and I have not read the whole thing but, wow. It breaks down all ways you can look at each card and really give you a lot to think about, each card.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 14

Why did you decide to start reading Tarot?

Because it was a magick I could master on my own.
Like I said, there were always the shows/movies with the old woman with a pack of cards, laying out, what I learn to be, the Celtic cross.
And this was before I starting studying witchcraft.
If I had a crystal ball, I would have started there. The cards were there, sitting for me at Hastings, waiting for me. Tarot and oracle cards are my forms of divination. I don’t think I want to learn anything more then that.

i'm trying

i’m trying.
i didn’t want to blog till after i got done with all these tarot prompts but, i needed to make good use of my time and not play Age of Mythology.
i know i need to blog about my non-binaryness. i want it down in words how i see myself.
i know i need to do a lot of work on myself. i want to be better.
there are things that i have agreed upon in my mind that i have not said out loud. there are secrets i am keeping from those who are trying to help me and with that, i need to get set right.
i am seeing a path on how to get right. i need to take action and get to it. my month card is the 7 of Pumpkins. i am not planting good things so there are no good things coming towards me.
i think Saturday i need to ward the house and get going.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 13

What’s the hardest thing about reading Tarot?

Memorizing all the meanings of the cards. There are some that do not click with me and I can not keep them in my head.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 12

What’s the most innovative reimagining of a Tarot card you’ve seen?

I wasn’t raised on the Rider-Waite deck, like I said, it was the Halloween Tarot that was my first real deck. My Devil wears a blue dress in my deck.
So, some things are not so “sacred” to me because of that fact. I do keep my eye out for different versions of the 3 of Swords, that card has a special place in my heart.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 11

Share one special technique you love for interpreting the cards.

A technique I learned from Complete Book of Tarot Spreads by Evelin Burger and Johannes Fiebig is the Quintessential Card.
You throw your cards. You add the number on the cards, Court and Major cards are 0. You keep adding the numbers till you get a number between 0 and 21 and apply that number to the Major Arcana. That is your Quintessential Card.
I use it as an overall theme of the reading. It gives me a signpost to what is the meat of my readings.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 10

Which card do you use as your significator?

I’m not one for significators. It’s just not something I’ve gotten into.
The one I do use is the Queen of Swords. That’s based on Complete Book of Tarot Spreads by Evelin Burger and Johannes Fiebig and that being my court card based on my Zodiac sign.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 9

What card in the Tarot deck is hardest for you to connect with?

The court cards were. I found a different way of interpreting them and that had been going fine with my readings.
For now, all the cards seem to be ok with me and me with them.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 8

What deck do you use most often right now?

I have two main tarot decks. My first one, and the one that made tarot makes sense, is the Halloween Tarot. Most of the images are remixes of the Rider-Waite deck but the suits are all Halloween. I love it. It just hits right.
And I thought I was gonna be a one deck non-binary for the longest time. I am not one to just be “OH MY GODS!” and be buying decks all the time.
But then I saw the Everyday Witch Tarot. I fell in love with the art so much that I started following Elisabeth Elvira Alba. She’s got an owl-based tarot deck coming out, next year(?) and I am here for it.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 7

What is the worst question you’ve ever been asked in a Tarot reading?

I don’t think I have been asked a bad question. I know I have thrown the cards without asking what I wanted to know to know out loud and trying very hard not to think about it.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 6

What is the best question you’ve ever been asked in a Tarot reading?

I don’t recall any really good questions; I do recall a very awesome reading.
I was on the phone with my girlfriend, Nicole. She had questions and wanted a reading but she didn’t want me to know anything that was going on.
Add that she wanted to pull her tarot cards too.
So, over the phone, we did a Celtic cross and pulled a card from our own deck.
It was really cool and both readings were dead on about things.

21 TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 5

How does Tarot intersect with your religious/spiritual beliefs and practices, if at all?

First, I’m a witch. I had always wanted to be a witch; it just took me 24 years to get my ass in gear to become a witch.
Second, the card reading started before I became a witch. Buying a deck was a lot easier than studying witchcraft.
Ok, so how is Tarot part of my religion?
Any witch worth their salt needs to have a form of divination to have and use. I use my cards to see what has happen, what is happening, and what could happen. I use my cards to try to talk to the higher power/s. I use my cards to try to make me a better person.

#21TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 3

Who has had the greatest influence on you as a Tarot reader?

Every time I saw a movie or show with a card reader, no matter how bad or stereotypical they were portrayed, I wanted to be them. I wanted a deck and I wanted to do a Celtic cross (didn’t know what the spread was called till I started reading).

What is the biggest mistake you ever made in a Tarot reading?

I don’t want to sound like an ass but I don’t recall making a BIG one. There are some readings, that in hindsight, I understand better than I did in the moment.

#21TAROT QUESTIONS 2021 TAROT TAG, Day 1

What was your first Tarot deck?

It was Starter Tarot Deck and looking back, it was the worse deck I have ever gotten.
I think I got it as Hastings, right when I was going to college and had free time and could go to stores, I wanted to go to and had the money for such things.
It was a wonder I kept with tarot after this deck. I hated the artwork and all the meanings were printed on the cards. Those were the worst things I did.
Having the meanings on the cards and no book to go with the deck (because why have a book with the meanings right there on the cards) never taught me why the cards meant what they meant.
And the artwork, gods I never liked the artwork. Artwork is the number one reason why I buy the tarot decks I do.
But that deck got me here. And now I have such pretty decks!

Season of the Witch

In the year of our Lord Bowie 2020, it has been shit.
2020 was planned to be a year of reasoning and broadening who I wanted to be. It was a year of becoming better.
It would be a year of living.
*insert pandemic*
Now that I have acceded, during a pandemic, I see things clearer.
I am non-binary. I am asexual. I am a powerful entity that will bring it and fuck your shit up.
I am anger, green and hulking.
I am free of my enemies and declared my home my power base and defend it so.
2020's theme was ~mind/body/soul~. It took from all three.
But.
I. Am. Still. Here.
Here is my declaration for 2021.
~Season of the Witch~
What does this mean? How is it different from ~mind/body/soul~?
~Season of the Witch~ is the hope of setting goals I can achieve. I think too big. I think I can conquer all in a day and still have the energy to party all night.
~Season of the Witch~ is an attempt to be wiser. By setting small goals, I can achieve them and set sights on bigger pictures.

The Goals

Grow my business.
Write 52 blog posts.
Read 3 books.
Develop a daily practice/meditation.
Set up an ancestral altar.
Crochet.
Write.
Improve my body.

Many are come-overs from ~mind/body/soul~ but more of a smaller focus. This is a smaller net that will catch what I want, without the feeling of failure for not doing ALL THE THINGS.
*takes a shot* Here’s to 2021.
