of all the things i bought that was probably very much unneeded but i was a newbie, i brought a small cauldron. i still have it, it’s more for décor then practice.

Witchcraft Ask, Day 90

Day 90. Do you believe you can initiate yourself or do you have to be initiated by another witch or coven?

ok chickens, sit down for this lesson.

you want to be a witch, be a witch. want to do a ritual to make you feel all magickal? it’s called a self-dedication. that’s how you do it when you are all alone.

you can be initiated into a coven when you find one and they want you to join.

Day 89. Do you feel you have any natural gifts or affinities (premonitions, hearing spirits, etc.) that led you toward the craft? If so what are they?

no. i think i do have a knack for herbal charms and others have said that my cards readings are straight and to the point.

19 years

• a day ago: chilling in my basement.
• a week ago: chilling in my basement. it snowed for an hour and then it turned to rain. and there is that pandemic going on, too.
• a month ago: i chilled in my basement.
• six months ago: trying to get back to witchcraft. came up with an idea for a 2-part story.
• a year ago: i was spending much time with my cards.
• three years ago: something was not good.
• five years ago: i saw Phantom with Nicole and Matthew!
• ten years ago: i went on my first date with Matthew.
• fifteen years ago: wow, i was with such different people back then and not really certain on who i was.
• twenty years ago: it was the year before i kept a journal. anything is possible.

so, it’s been, looks at watch, 19 years since i first posted a journal post on the internets. it was long ago and on Open Diary.

there was Angelfire, and now i’m here on Blogger, Word Press, and Tumblr. and kind Twitter.

damn, next year will be 20 years.

Day 88. How have you created your path? What is unique about it?

What is the path of the amerwitch?

I started off in fluffy hell with a lot of Silver RavenWolf’s books. It wasn’t till I found a Facebook group that I felt I start seeing things better.

My path, I don’t have a one carved out. I am working on this year to find a daily practice and someone to pray to.

If I had to put a name on it, I am that witch in the fairy tale that lives in the woods. Come, knock on my door and I will help you, child. I have my herbs and oils and I will make you a charm to heal your soul or, cast you a spell. Want to know what your life will bring? Let me throw the cards and we’ll see.

What makes my path so unique? I have carved this out. Yes, I have read the books that so many have but, I alone am on this path. I’m not part of any coven where this is the one true and one way. It’s just me, in the woods, howling at the moon and smelling the lilacs.

i have a witch’s cabinet for my spell things, and 2 trunks for my candles and candle things.

i don’t have one. i assumed it will be cards whenever i get a chance to start talking to a deity.

there are many women i have friend on Facebook that admire for who they are.

as for their own practices, i don’t know. i just admire for who they are and want to be like them.

blar on a Tuesday morning

i need to take my ToDoLists and put them out where i can see them. and instead of buying something, i’m just gonna write them down and tape them out in the open.

if i see them, maybe i will be more inclined to do them.

i lack writing words. that might now be a thing now, or this year. still plugging away at the idea.

working out and all that has fallen by the wayside. i don’t know if it’s the stress of what’s going on or just that time of year. still have the thought, just not the will to do it.

Day 83. Do you have a pre-ritual ritual? (I.e. Something you do before rituals to prepare yourself for them). If so what is it?

i prepare my altar with all the things i will need for the ritual. i take a shower, anointed myself with my own oil blend, put on my ritual clothes, and do the magick.

i got a lot of cleaning done. i need to do that more often.

maybe next week i can attack the other things that need to be neated up.

i have been crocheting, kinda. i’m sewing the squares together for an afghan. i’m happy with the work i’m getting done on it.

i got a lamp for the crafting table. next step, craft.

i think i need to get a whiteboard to write down all the shit i want to do to make me do it. or, just write them on paper and post them up around here to do it.

i need some motivation to get shit down. by having a list of all of it in my face, i won’t be bored, i will have it there to yell at me.

Day 82. What’s your favorite candle scent?  Do you use it in your practice?

umm, ok. my scents for candles and waxes are lilac and pumpkin spice.

never used them in my practice, just to make things smell pretty.

the strangest of all

i thought this would all blow over by the end of the week, but it still keeps coming.

i went to Jeff last Tuesday and the shelves were bare. it was odd to see what was left: turkeys, Jell-O, Velveeta cheese, pumpkin pie mix.

i did walk out with bread, milk, and eggs. i am that good.

cities are going on lockdown. i am still going to work.

schools are closed for the year in some places. we will have to see what happens in the fall.

i did find cherry vodka. it’s Smirnoff but it works.

this is history that we are living in. we will be the primary sources for years to come. theses will be the stories we tell for generations.

the old fashion faiery tales of the witch in the woods. that’s what i want to be. and really, that goes back to Ursula from The Little Mermaid. after the Wicked Witch of the West, she’s the next big witch influence in my life.

before witchcraft, i felt i had no control over what was going on in my life. there was nothing watching over me.

getting real about being a witch, i felt that i was connected to something else in the world.

and i have control. i can make my charms to change the way things were. and later i got my tarot and knew what the hell was going on and what was coming up.

i did see Da Babies today. Jeff Esther is talking more is just a chill child. she just wanted a “samwitch” with cheese and on goes her boots and coat and she’s just chilling with her samwitch.

first off, just because you are pagan/witch you don’t have to go down a rabbit hole of “EVERYTHING MUST BE PAGAN/WITCH SINCE I AM NOW A PAGAN/WITCH!!!”

with that out of the way.

i don’t listen to any music that is strictly pagan. my main music is Bowie and Meat Loaf.

fun fact: when i was in college, my class had to come up with sheet music for a choir concert. and lo, our teacher brought in a ton of sheet music she thought we could use for the project.

well, i found all the Moses Hogan music and just started grabbing at them. my classmates were confused because, hi, i’m a witch and his music is all spirituals.

yes, they are and gods, the few we sang in choir were great because i can feel the spirit.

after giving up on Catholicism and before becoming a witch, music was my religion. even now, being a witch for 15 years, singing the “Hallelujah Chorus”, i can feel the gods at will.

i think the world has gone bat shit crazy.

i’ve lost track on how many apocalypses i have lived through. it started back in 1990 so, there had to be a lot of them.

this is just another one to add to the pile. if the big one ever happens, i don’t think i will even notice it.

we were out of toilet paper at the store. the whole thing, all gone. it was a sight to see.

and it’s at all the stores. people are just losing their shit and being stupid plus.

there’s no one way to do anything. there is no one book that tells you THE WAY. it’s buying tons of books and reading tons of things just for a dime’s worth of info that strikes you.

Day 70. What are your favorite things about being a witch?

i always wanted to be a witch. it was a dream from when i was a little girl. i would watch The Wizard of Oz on TV every year and the Wicked Witch of the West was my hero. i wanted to be her!

flash forward 10ish years and i find the New Age section of my small town local library. and yes, you can be a witch and cast spells and it’s all right here!

flash forward another 10 years when i actually brought the books and wanted to do this for real.

flash forward 15 years and i am trying very hard to find my path.

so, some 35 years have passed since i wanted to be a witch and here i am, working my ass off to be a better version.

what’s my favorite part?

i am a witch. i am living my inner 4-year-old’s dream, right now.

full moon tonight. whoot!

ok, the time change and the whole day it felt it was speedy and slow at the same time. it did me no help.

need to do some magick of my own tonight. it’s a full moon and so i throw the cards and try to find peace in all that.

i think with the time changing and spring coming, i’m rethinking things. i need to change how i am doing things so i can get more down.

after some thought, i decided to give up on finding a “higher power” and setting up a daily practice. i might go back to that but for now, no.

i keep getting ideas for other stories with “Adventures of The DarkShark and His Witch” and still can’t find an ending on the one i am working on right now.

i need to harvest and dry some crocuses tomorrow. it’s a full moon and, yes, lots of magick stuff will be going down tomorrow night.
